Going Green? Here’s How

A green lifestyle is not only crucial for your health but vital for the environment as well. You may occasionally have to go the extra mile to achieve a green lifestyle, but the results will be worth the wait and effort. Here are six tips to help you along your journey to full green.

1. Cut Your Spending

Believe it or not, going green can save you a buck or two when you go shopping. Look around your community for farmers markets and neighbors who are willing to sell from their gardens. Check the difference between their prices and the prices at your supermarkets. The cost of importation contributes to the sometimes high cost of food, while you can get the fresh and tasty “green” food next door.

2. Forget Plastics

Plastic is a common pollutant , and it has and continues to do a lot of damage to the environment. If you can, try to phase out your use of plastics and adopt a more sustainable way to store your food.

3. Drop the Junk Food

It is so important to have fruits and vegetables to be a regular part of your everyday diet to keep your body functioning correctly. Junk food, like candy and processed meals, may be less expensive and tempting to buy, but don’t do it. If you do, you can seriously increase your chance of detrimental health conditions.

4. Teach Your children

If you’re a parent, there is absolutely no way to go green without impacting your children—for the better! Involve your children in your transition to a more green lifestyle. Explain the steps you’re taking and have them help you. It’s a great way to bond with your family and educate them on health and the community.

If you’re considering going green, remember: in the end, it will be worth it, even if you have to spend a little more or put a bit more effort into being healthier. Trust us; you won’t regret it.
